Andrew Harris
Andrew is a principal consultant and project director specialising in the protection of critical infrastructure and national preparedness. His expertise spans strategy, business development, risk, communications and policy consulting.
With senior strategy and delivery roles in major multinational corporations including ISS, Cushman and Wakefield, Jacobs and GHD, Andrew has worked with the private and public sectors, and key stakeholders in transport, water and energy, resources and critical minerals, defence, national security and diplomacy.
Andrew has worked on major government asset and policy advice, including for the diplomatic property portfolio, to develop Australia’s critical minerals industry, and to improve energy and water security. Andrew also provided multiple tranches of advice to the federal government’s Strategic Fleet team, where he led the reporting, risk analysis, horizon scanning and national security dimensions to identify options for the establishment of a sovereign maritime fleet capability for Australia.
Andrew has addressed major conferences, including OzWater, the Gippsland New Energy Conference, the Australian Security Industry Limited annual conference, the Risk Engineering Society biennial conference. He has also lectured in the Critical Infrastructure course of the National Security College at the Australian National University.
Andrew is a co-founder of the Melbourne Security Forum, an independent not-for-profit think tank that convenes discreet gatherings of experts, practitioners, and leaders to address the most pressing security issues affecting society.
Andrew’s qualifications include a Master of Arts (Editing and Communications) and a Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing) from the University of Melbourne. Andrew has completed Introduction to National Security, Critical Infrastructure, and Intelligence and Policy courses at the National Security College, Australian National University, Canberra. Andrew also writes creatively, has won awards for his poetry and stages occasional photographic exhibitions.
